Foundation Repair vs Replacement
Many foundation problems can be addressed by repairing or stabilizing the existing system, but some structures require more extensive reconstruction.
When repair may be appropriate
If the existing foundation can be safely stabilized and the damaged areas can be restored, repair may avoid removing the entire system.
When replacement may enter the conversation
Severe deterioration, inadequate original support, major structural changes, or a foundation that cannot practically be stabilized may lead to a replacement or reconstruction discussion.
Get the scope clear
The key question is not simply “repair or replace?” but what part of the system has failed, whether it can be stabilized, and what long-term outcome the proposed work is intended to achieve.
